"By The Shores Of Gitche Gumee..."
A Legacy 90 Years In The Making
Our story begins in 1930 with John J. Rader, who originally founded the camp to minister to the youth of Upper Michigan's "Copper Country" with only $5.00 in his pocket. He constructed some of the very buildings that still stand today as a testimony to his faith and calling and to the exceeding and abundant blessings of God.

The ministry of Gitche Gumee Bible Camp has expanded even beyond John Rader's dreams to reach generations of young people, adults, and families from all over the world for Christ and to teach an ever-changing world the never-changing truths of the Word of God.
Today, the dreams of John Rader continue on in a contemporary setting. Campers enjoy a variety of fun activities, a joyous time of praise and worship, spiritual refreshment from the Word of God, and physical nourishment from our dining room! Add to that the encouragement of fellowship with other believers enjoyed in our beautiful facilities and set in the scenic, rustic beauty of the Keweenaw Peninsula, and you have a vacation that is unsurpassed. We invite you to join us and enjoy what others have experienced for 90 years and counting at Gitche Gumee Bible Camp!

It’s hard to describe the weight lifted upon arriving at Gitche Gumee Bible Camp. From the hushed quiet to jaw-dropping beauty, from the servant-hearted staff to delicious food and wonderfully pleasant accommodations, Gitche embraces each guest. Our family, from youngest to oldest, holds our visit as one of their greatest highlights every year.

Our family finds more rest and gets more recharged coming up and serving at Gitche Gumee every summer than we do on our family vacations. The staff is so warm and welcoming and the environment is uplifting and breathtaking. The time spent in God's Word and fellowshipping with other believers is always worth the trip!
