Exciting Programs 

  • From arts and crafts to activities like hiking, swimming at Gitche Gumee's own beach property, mountain biking, taking off-campus excursions, berry picking, and tons of local sightseeing available, it's easy to find things to do at Gitche Gumee Bible Camp, even if that means kicking back and taking a nice afternoon nap.

Childcare

  • We provide opportunities for you to attend our morning and evening meetings while allowing your children to enjoy a program of their own. 

    • ​Nursery (0-4yr)- Your child will enjoy great age-appropriate opportunities to have fun and interact with other children.

    • Juniors (5-12yr)- We provide a VBS-style program for your child during regularly scheduled meeting times.

What to Bring

  • No need to bring the kitchen sink; we've got that. We also provide sheets, pillows, and blankets. Just bring towels for both beach and room use, clothes for cold and warm weather, and smiles to pass around!

Jim Jeffery

Week 3 | July 19-25

Jim is the Equipping Pastor of Chapel Pointe Church, a dynamic and growing ministry in the greater Grand Rapids MI area. His ministry focuses on adult discipleship, small groups, bible electives, care ministry and equipping leaders in each of these areas.He enjoys sharing the preaching ministry and consulting with other churches and leaders to advance the cause of Christ.
 

He served as a pastor for twenty-six years, including ministries at Grace Baptist Church,Binghamton, New York; Calvary Baptist Church, Sandusky, Ohio; Lakewood Park Baptist Church, Auburn, Indiana; and Calvary Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan.He was ordained into the ministry in October 1978 by Grace Baptist Church, Binghamton, New York. Jim has enjoyed preaching and teaching in local church bible conferences, camp ministry, pastor’s fellowships and college campuses.
 

Jim Jeffery served as the President of Baptist Bible College & Seminary now Clarks Summit University for fourteen years from 2001-2015. He served as a member of the Board of Trustees for eleven years prior to his appointment and was Chairman for three years. He aslo He served on the boards of Baptist Mid-Missions, Camp Patmos, and Ohio, Indiana, & Michigan state pastors’ fellowships.
 

President Jeffery is an alumnus of BBC (Now Clarks Summit University), earning his Bachelor of Religious Education degree in 1979. He is also a graduate of Practical Bible College (now Davis College), earned a Master of Religious Education in Pastoral Ministry degree at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, and has done doctoral studies at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and Grace Seminary. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Shepherds Seminary in Cary, North Carolina, in 2005.
 

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Alberta “Bert” Dart, in 1973. They have three children, Daniel, Amy, and Rachel, three children-in-law, and eleven grandchildren. Jim and Bert love spending time with family and building into the faith and lives of their grandchildren.
 

His hobbies include riding his Harley, swimming, biking, downhill skiing, golfing, and reading.

Brad Carpenter

Week 4 | July 26-August 1

Brad is a farm boy from Michigan, went to high school in Illinois and college in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is NOT a Packer fan. He has a BA in youth ministry from Bethel University where he met and married the amazing Olivia. They moved to California in a rented U-Haul in the year 2000. He studied theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL (MA) before returning to California to be ordained in 2006.

 

There are three crazy and creative Carpenter kids: Flannery, Asher and Story. Brad loves live theater, running, home renovation and wrestling with his kids. For pleasure he reads Flannery O’Connor, Wendell Berry, Gary D. Schmidt and young adult fiction. Brad and Olivia love Netflix, ice cream and improv comedy.

Jim Bennet

Week 5 | August 2-8

Jim has held a variety of positions at public and private universities over the last 27 years. His international work and ministry have taken him to six continents and nearly fifty countries. His frequent ministry to young adults and families has been complemented by opportunities to train national pastors and bi-vocational Christian workers in countries where Christ-followers face persecution. In addition to his educational work in the US and around the world, he serves as a Fellow at the Religious Freedom Institute in Washington DC.

Jerry Goodell

Week 6 | August 9-15

Jerry and Kati Goodell have worked with children and families for the past 45 years in various areas of ministry. They have both been teachers -- Kati in a Christian school and Jerry in the public school.  Jerry was pastor at Church at the Mall in Lakeland, Florida for 20 years serving in the areas of Children's Pastor, Pastor of Education, Pastoral Care and Counseling, and Associate Lead Pastor. Presently they work on the staff at Gitche Gumee each summer as campus pastor, teaching at their home church in Lakeland, Florida, and speaking at Christian educational conferences. They seek to seek to serve the Lord by helping families to grow together in their faith and by encouraging them to balance their lives in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.
